What to expect during your window installation.
Window work happens at the wall opening, so it affects the inside of your house as much as the outside. Knowing what to expect helps everything run more smoothly.
Confirmation of details
We will confirm style, color and finish, glass options, grids, and which windows are included. If anything has changed since measurement, new flooring, trim work, or alarm sensors, tell your project manager.
Interior preparation
› Clear furniture and décor about three to five feet back from each window
› Take down curtains, blinds, and window treatments
› Remove wall hangings near windows that vibration could affect
› Move breakables off nearby shelves and surfaces
Pets should be secured away from work areas. Openings are open to the outside during replacement.
Tell us in advance
Custom window treatments you want protected or reinstalled a particular way. Security sensors, cameras, or alarm wiring at the windows. Fragile plaster, older trim, or historic materials. Anything sentimental near the work areas.
Noise, dust, and vibration
Cutting, fastening, and removal of the old units. Expect crew movement around the house, dust from old framing, trim, and insulation, packaging from the new windows, and intermittent vibration. We contain what we can and clean as we go, but some mess is normal while work is active.
Open openings
Individual openings are temporarily open during removal and replacement. Keep children and pets clear, and do not walk directly beneath an active window.
Weather
If weather turns, we may pause or reorder the sequence to keep the interior protected and get a proper seal.
Final checks
› Every window opens, closes, and locks
› Reveals are consistent and the unit sits square in the opening
› Sealed and finished to the scope you approved
Caulk and foam need cure time, and new windows can feel stiff until the seals break in.
Clean-up
Old materials and packaging leave with us, and we complete a jobsite cleanup. Expect to find some dust afterward, more so in older homes or where trim work was involved.
