What to expect during your exterior remodel.
Exterior construction is a significant undertaking. Knowing what to expect helps everything run more smoothly.
Site preparation
A dumpster or dump trailer will be placed on site for debris removal. Landscaping, shrubs, and hard surfaces near work areas will be protected where possible, and sensitive areas will be covered when necessary.
Tell us in advance about delicate landscaping, irrigation, decorative lighting, outdoor fixtures, or anything fragile or sentimental near the home.
Interior preparation
Exterior work causes vibration, especially during roofing tear-offs. Remove wall hangings, mirrors, and fragile décor from exterior-facing walls. Secure fragile items on shelves, and cover attic belongings if dust is a concern.
Noise and activity
Expect hammering and equipment noise, crew movement around the home, material deliveries, and periodic vibration inside the house.
Debris and clean-up
Construction is messy work. Roofing and siding projects produce thousands of nails and fasteners, along with shingles, siding pieces, packaging, sawdust, scrap metal, and trim.
We use magnets to collect loose nails and clean up as the project progresses, then complete a final sweep at the end. It is normal to find stray debris in the days after. Tell us if you notice anything that concerns you.
Safety
Keep children and pets indoors or away from active work areas, and avoid staging areas and dumpsters. Work zones should only be entered with a crew member.
Shingle tear-off creates vibration and falling debris. Gutters and downspouts may be temporarily removed. Driveway access may be limited during loading and debris removal. Landscaping near the home and exterior outlets and fixtures may be temporarily disturbed.
